Throughout the term, the eWriting Lab may have longer turnaround times during peak weeks due to lower staffing hours. Turnaround times may be 48-72 hours so please plan accordingly when submitting your paper.
Northern Lakes College is a member of eTutor Alberta, a collaborative online tutoring service provided by Alberta’s publicly-funded post-secondary institutions. Please note that your tutor might come from any of the institutions currently participating in eTutor Alberta.
eTutor Alberta currently offers professional tutoring support in writing.
Signing Up As a student at Northern Lakes College, you can access all of this great support for writing—simply by logging into the eTutor Alberta online platform. No fussy downloads required. And it’s totally free!
Just click on the “Need an Account” link in the blue box to the left. When you create an account, you will be asked to provide some basic information and read and accept the terms and conditions of the service. Once you’ve signed up, make sure you check your email regularly for notifications from eTutor Alberta.
If you are currently a student at Northern Lakes College you may create an account to use eTutorAlberta.
Simply, click on the “need an account” link in the blue box to the left, complete the brief form as directed and read and accept our “Terms and Conditions.” The following information is required to create an account:
*To minimize the risk of inappropriate use of personal information, we recommend that you do not use the same username and password as used for other accounts.
Once your account is created, you can get started immediately by submitting a writing assignment for review by one of our tutors or by sending along a specific question that will help you in your writing process.
eTutor Alberta, an initiative sponsored by eCampusAlberta, is a consortium of public Alberta post-secondary institutions that have partnered together to provide an online asynchronous writing support service for its students. At present, eTutorAlberta is open to a limited number of students at the nine initial participating institutions: Bow Valley College,Grande Prairie Regional College,Lakeland College,Lethbridge College,MacEwan University, NAIT,Northern Lakes College,Olds College and Red Deer College.
As a learner, if you submit a paper for tutoring assistance, a tutor from any of these nine participating institutions may assist you. When you create an account to use the eTutorAlberta service, you will be asked to read and accept the terms and conditions of the service.
PLEASE NOTE: The service allows you to submit a draft of your paper to a tutor, ask for specific feedback, and receive a tutor’s response—typically within 24-48 hours (service time may be more during peak times). You may submit three drafts per paper.
The offline eQuestions allow you to leave a specific question for an eTutor who will respond within 48 hours.
Evaluation of Services
Approximately 48 hours after you use the eTutor service, you will be sent a very brief survey link via email. Please take a moment to let us know about your experience with our service. Your feedback will be instrumental in helping eTutorAlbertato better serve all students!
